Introduction to the X-scanner

Introduction to the X-scanner

The scanner is a device that produces cross-sectional images of the human body for diagnostic purposes. It looks for undetectable abnormalities in conventional radiology or on ultrasound.

It looks like an examination table that slides in an open ring at both ends.

The scanner uses an X-ray source emitted by a rotating hoop into which the examination bed on which the patient is lying slides.

The images obtained are reconstructed in three dimensions using the computer tools connected to the device.

The diagnostic contribution of the scanner is important for:

- abdominal pathologies (liver, kidneys),

- post-operative monitoring,

- orthopaedic examinations,

- pelvimetry,

- neuroradiology,

- the chest,

- the vascular (arteries and veins).
